Not every parent can put their hand in their pocket and draw out the cash necessary to fund a therapy like ABR. In fact, the vast majority of children on our ABR programme are there because their parents actively fundraise.
Most parents are familiar with traditional fundraising events: sponsored walks; collecting cans; raffles; washing cars; supermarket bag packing, to name but a few. Crowd funding is a more recent development and utilises the power of the internet and social media outlets.
ABR Scotland is proud to have linked up with the children's charity "Just 4 Children" to provide our parents with full access to one of the world's biggest fundraising platform "Just Giving" to raise money for their child's therapy. Unlike an ordinary crowd funding account that anyone can set up, Just 4 Children help parents set up a Just Giving page that is eligible for tax relief. This means that instead of receiving around 90p - 95p for every pound donated the child's account benefits to the tune of around £1.15 - £1.20 for every pound given!
Any child resident in the UK or Ireland can have this type of fundraising account but only donations from UK taxpayers are eligible for tax relief. Additionally, donations from close relatives are not eligible for tax relief.
Anyone familiar with Just Giving will know that the secret to success is to bring in as many of your friends, family and associates as possible to your fundraising efforts. By encouraging them to set up their own events you reach a much greater number of "givers" than by your efforts alone. The good news is that anyone organising a fundraising event for your child can set up their own page on Just Giving and link it to your child's page. That way your child can benefit from tax relief from these donations too.
The first thing is to contact Just 4 Children and tell them you want to set up a Just Giving account using their services. Tell them that your looking to do ABR Therapy with your child. They will email you out everything that you require to get started and are very knowledgeable about what's required. Both Just 4 Children and Just Giving have lots of help and tips about fundraising ideas on their websites. What are you waiting for? Click on the links below.
